What is REAP?

The Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP), offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Sloan School of Management helps regions all over the world accelerate economic growth and job creation by promoting the development of robust innovation-driven entrepreneurship (IDE) ecosystems. The program educates, engages, and enables multi-sector teams in the development and execution of a regional strategy focused on IDE acceleration.

REAP Objectives:

  1. Accelerate IDE entrepreneurship to create vibrant regional economies
  2. Understand key drivers of IDE ecosystems
  3. Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of regional IDE ecosystem
  4. Design an Acceleration Strategy to strengthen and catalyze regional IDE ecosystem
  5. Find resources and engage stakeholders to move towards implementation of Acceleration Strategy

Why REAP?

By taking advantage of MIT’s expertise in the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems, participating regions participate in a 2-year program enabling them to:

  1. Promote innovation driven entrepreneurship as a key engine for economic growth
  2. Practice collaboration between a multi-sector team composed of non-traditional partners
  3. Build an interdisciplinary team to drive impact and regional strategy implementation
  4. Leverage understanding of key drivers of successful innovation driven entrepreneurial ecosystems to design and implement key programs and policies, informed by MIT research and global best practice
  5. Deploy MIT rigor and use frameworks to deepen analysis and evaluate their current regional entrepreneurial ecosystems
  6. Compare and learn from other regions globally
