Caguas, Puerto Rico (April 8, 2024) – With the purpose of strengthening its integrated turnkey solutions and innovative products for the Life Sciences Industry globally, Ultimate Solutions Corp. acquired the local company AutoPak Engineering Corp., which has more than 35 years of experience designing, manufacturing, and installing robotics and industrial automation equipment.
This acquisition of AutoPak Engineering allows Ultimate Solutions – with extensive regulatory knowledge, vision systems and serialization – to become a leader in offering integrated solutions from conceptualization, design, manufacturing, integration and validation of custom-made products and equipment with the latest in technology for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Likewise, in the long term it would allow the services and products of both companies to expand to other markets such as the food, beverage, and cosmetics industries.
In addition, this purchase allows Ultimate Solutions to continue its participation in the digital transformation, since with Autopak Engineering they can solidify the elements of Industry 4.0 such as robots and collaborative robots with Deep Learning cameras, as well as Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality technologies. Internet of Things, big data and cybersecurity services are also evaluated to apply them to smart factories.
AutoPak Engineering, founded and directed for the past 38 years by Ignacio Muñoz Guerra, has a workforce of more than 40 employees. It specializes in design, custom manufacturing, robotics, transportation systems, industrial safety and development of standard or customized products for secondary and tertiary packaging management. It has an extensive client portfolio in the Life Sciences Industries and alliances with: FANUC, Universal Robots, Hytrol, Dorner, FlexLink, Rockwell, Cognex, among others. Like Ultimate Solutions, AutoPak Engineers’ facility is in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and has approximately 40,000 square feet.
“With this acquisition, we combine all the knowledge acquired from the Inova business incubator in Caguas, the Guayacán Venture Accelerator Program, and the support of the Puerto Rico Minority Supplier Council (PRMSDC). We want to become a sophisticated design studio, based on development, innovation and learning within the regulatory framework of which we are part. We will establish alliances and develop the machines of the future for our global customers. We have a lot to contribute, and this step brings us closer to the vision we have had since we founded our company; offer integrated or turnkey solutions that include the technical and regulatory part,” said Yoel Rivera Santos, president of Ultimate Solutions and new owner of AutoPak Engineering.
“Both of us (referring to Muñoz Guerra) had the opportunity to sell or acquire companies outside of Puerto Rico, but we are united by a genuine desire to contribute to the economic development of our Island. We bet that the experience gained in Puerto Rico, whose economic axis revolves around manufacturing, it will be fundamental for the global growth of both workplaces,” said Rivera Santos, who founded his business 18 years ago with three people and now has a multinational company with about 200 employees and offices in Puerto Rico, United States and Spain.
In the past, Ultimate Solutions and AutoPak Engineering collaborated with a joint division: Upak. “Ultimate and AutoPak maintain a proven synergy for five years developing, manufacturing and installing equipment for the serialization of pharmaceutical products. In addition, Ultimate Solutions complements AutoPak with its global sales force and its solid Human Resources Department, which guarantees robust growth for both companies,” said Muñoz Guerra, former CEO of AutoPak.
With this new acquisition and uniting the strengths of both companies, Ultimate Solutions will have the ability to compete stronger globally with the best technical and manufacturing resources, and the most trained professionals in the Regulated Industry and Validations sector.
