Builders Assoc., Guayacán join to establish scholarship

Grupo Guayacán Executive Director Laura Cantero and Builders Association President Ricardo Álvarez-Díaz sign off on the partnership.

The Puerto Rico Builders Association and Grupo Guayacán Inc. recently joined forces to establish a scholarship program for the trade group’s members through the Guayacán Fellowships Program.

The newly formed partnership will also develop joint initiatives to stimulate education and local business development.

“Our collaboration is focused on the development of initiatives and solutions that contribute to the island’s economic growth and to provide support for future entrepreneurs,” said Builders Association President Ricardo Álvarez-Díaz.

The partnership aims to promote development initiatives and business training among Builder Association members. This includes, among other things, promoting member participation in the educational programs that Guayacán offers to entrepreneurs in various stages of development.

As part of the agreement, the Builders Association will offer a new business scholarship through the Guayacán Fellowships Program, to pay part of the tuition for a member to participate in the Entrepreneur’s Boot Camp at Babson College.

This is an intensive program designed to develop entrepreneurial skills in individuals and provide them with the tools and strategies needed to identify new opportunities either to start a new business project or to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and launch new initiatives for innovation in existing companies.

Meanwhile, Guayacán will open a call through its website for any member or employee of the Builders Association’s member companies to participate by submitting an online application. The Entrepreneur’s Boot Camp at Babson College will be offered in May 2017 and the orientation process and call for the scholarship is expected to begin later this year. Grupo Guayacán will be responsible for selecting the scholarship winner and for their preparation as a Guayacán Fellow.
